There is no precedent for the fear propagated in the western media.  There is, however, plenty of precedent for Iran's fears of the West.

Also, Iran has the 3rd largest Jewish population in the world (behind Israel and the U.S.) and they are living quite comfortably and peacefully in Iran.  In fact, they were offered financial incentive to move to Israel and many declined.  It makes you wonder if that whole "Israel must be wiped off the face of the Earth" claim by our media is complete nonsense...
